What to Include in a 48V ESS RFQ
A practical checklist for telecom and commercial backup teams requesting quotes on 48V LiFePO4 rack modules.
A useful ESS quotation starts with site facts, not only a model number. Sharing the load, cabinet, communication, and documentation needs early reduces rework and makes datasheet review more meaningful.
Site load and runtime target
Provide continuous load, peak load, peak duration, and the runtime objective. If the site has staged loads or generator transfer events, note them. Runtime claims without a load profile are only directional.
Cabinet and mechanical constraints
Share rack height preference, available depth, weight limits, front or rear access, cable entry, and ambient temperature range. SCIFP modules differ by capacity and mechanical envelope even when the voltage class is the same.
Charging and rectifier context
Identify the rectifier or charger family, float or charge voltage window, and any known current limits. ESS modules must be reviewed against the real charge source, not only the battery datasheet.
Communication and monitoring needs
State whether RS232, RS485, SNMP, dry contacts, or another interface is required. Also note the NMS or site controller expectations. Protocol availability is configuration-dependent and should be confirmed against the quoted package.
Parallel and expansion assumptions
If multiple modules will operate in parallel, describe the target energy, expected number of modules, and whether expansion is planned later. Parallel limits, cable sizing, and protection strategy need system review.
Documentation package
Ask for the datasheet, communication document, mechanical drawing if needed, and any configuration-specific compliance or transport files. Request documents against the exact model revision under review.
Commercial inputs
Include sample timing, production quantity, destination, packaging expectations, and whether the RFQ is for evaluation, pilot, or production. Clear commercial context helps the supplier respond with realistic lead-time and MOQ notes.
A compact ESS RFQ package
Send load and runtime, cabinet limits, charge source, communication needs, parallel assumptions, required documents, and quantity plan together. That package is usually enough to start a serious configuration review for SCIFP-class 48V modules.
